Alkalox Decarboniser
SKU: 10165SKU
$ 101.50 - $ 280.36
Description
Alkalox is a liquid alkaline de-carbonizer, cleaner, rust remover and paint stripper for use on ferrous metals in a heated tank. No attack on ferrous metals and safe on high tensile steel. Eliminates the dangers of hydrogen embrittlement and work does not readily re-rust. Alkalox is NZFSA Approved C31 (all animal products except dairy).
CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Appearance: Viscous Clear Liquid
Specific Gravity: 1.43
Flammability : Non Flammable
Solubility in Water: Soluble
pH: 1% Solution: 12.5 – 13
APPLICATION
Hook, Slide and Gambrel cleaning in abattoirs and small goods plants. For the removal of baked and burnt on oils, fats and greases from steel and iron articles, e.g. glass bottle moulds, oven roasting equipment of food preparation establishments. For the removal of oil, grease, paint, light rust etc. from engine blocks, crank cases, machinery and engineering equipment. Paint, ink and varnish stripping as an economic alternative to solvent-based strippers.
Method of Use:
For brightening stainless steel.
De-rusting cast iron and steel, especially when acids must be avoided to eliminate the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.
As an electrolytic cleaning chemical. Etching aluminum prior to painting and other surface treatments.
Immerse work to be cleaned, de-rusted or stripped in the Alkalox bath until clean. Light rust will be removed within approximately 15 minutes. Heavier deposits will take 30 minutes or longer.
Note: For scale removal use Alkalox with electrolytic cleaning or use an acid pickle, e.g. Tergacid or Tergophos.
Drain excess solution from work and then rinse article thoroughly with potable water.
Skim or blot up with paper, oils and contaminants that rise to the surface when the solution is cool.
DILUTION RATIO
Alkalox is used at a concentration of 15 to 25% by volume at 85°C minimum, depending on degree of rust, soiling and paint stripping required. A weak solution and/or lower temperature may be used for cleaning alone.
