Hydrochloric acid (also known as muriatic acid or spirits of salt) is a strong liquid chemical used to lower high pH and total alkalinity in swimming pool water.
- pH Control: Keeps pool water in the ideal range of 7.2 to 7.6. High pH makes chlorine ineffective, causes cloudy water, and leads to scaling.
- Alkalinity Reduction: Lowers total alkalinity to stabilize water chemistry and improve chlorine efficiency.
